NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP: Upper Lehigh Lions Club having chicken barbecue

Upper Lehigh Lions will be serving up barbecued chicken dinners from noon to 6 p.m. June 2 in the Schnecksville Fire Co. pavilion.

Meal includes chicken, baked potato, pickled cabbage, roll and beverage. Bake sale items will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit community projects.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, welcomes children of the community to Vacation Bible School.

The VBS, themed “Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus,” will take place June 18-22.

On Monday and Tuesday, sessions will run 5-8 p.m. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the time will be 9 a.m. to noon.

VBS is for children ages 4 and older, up to and including those entering sixth grade.

Children age 3 may attend if a parent stays with them.

Preregistration is preferred, and there is no fee.

Cub Pack 57 Webelos Den built a picnic table and donated it to Union Lutheran Church.

The table is located along the Dennis W. Moore, pastor emeritus, meditation trail.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, reports Miller-Keystone Blood Center was thrilled to recently collect 36 viable pints of blood from 41 donors at the church.

On that day, $600 for the blood center was raised through soup sales.

Union UCC says it is pleased to help the community through this mission.

The next blood drive will be in the fall.
