May 27

Emmaus Veterans Committee will honor departed comrades buried in each of the six cemeteries. The public is invited to a short prayer service, rifle salute and taps. The ceremonies begin 8 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, then proceed to Old Moravian, Moravian at Ridge Street, Lutheran Reformed, Northwood and ending at Evangelical, Second and Ridge streets.

The veterans brick installation ceremony 1 p.m. at the Emmaus Remembrance Garden 164 E. Main St., on the grounds of the Knaus Homestead.

May 28

The Macungie VFW will host Memorial Day activities beginning with a flag raising 8:30 a.m. at Macungie Memorial Park. The parade will begin 10 a.m. The parade route will be Main Street from Buttonwood to Poplar streets. There will be Memorial Day celebrations at Macungie Memorial Park following the parade.

June 2

Lower Macungie Township’s free summer concert with The Outlaws featuring Crazy Elmer at East Texas Park, 5624 East Texas Road, East Texas, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Indoor and outdoor yard sale at St. John’s UCC, 139 N. 4th St., Emmaus, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. A bake sale and hot dog stand will also be available.

June 5

The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. The program will be “Traditional and Contemporary Floral Designs” with Lynnette Barlip of Bob’s Flower Shop in Northampton. Barlip is a fourth generation florist. She is an FTD master floral designer and wedding consultant. She studied with Bill Hixon of Cleveland who has done special events at the White House for over 30 years. A member of the Lehigh Valley Floral Association, Barlip was the director of the Lehigh Valley Flower Show for two years. The designs she creates will be raffled at the end of the meeting.

June 7

Allentown AARP Chapter #5415 will meet noon at St. Timothy’s Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown. Dolcetto Entertainment will be the featured program. Non-members and guests are welcome. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Allentown Food Bank. For more information, call 610-437-4265.

Lower Macungie Township’s free summer concert with Johnny’s Jukebox Band at East Texas Park, 5624 East Texas Road, East Texas, 6 to 9 p.m.

Good Shepherd wellness event 5 to 7 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Health & Technology Center, middle level, 850 S. 5th St., Allentown. Free, covered parking is available in Good Shepherd’s parking deck. While the event is open to anyone interested in overall health, it is especially intended for individuals living with a chronic condition, such as obesity, hypertension, chronic pain and diabetes.
