LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Forgotten Felines and Fidos

Dr. Jeannette Maucher spends a great deal of her time helping shelters with events similar to the vaccination clinic fundraiser at Forgotten Felines and Fidos, Germansville.

Maucher does not have a private practice, said Dena Hankee, president of the rescue organization.

The veterinarian works at Forgotten Felines and Fidos three days a week and does relief work for local veterinarians.

Maucher said the spring clinic was going more quietly than last fall when many owners wanted everything available for their pet’s health.

Rianna Daley helped by holding the animals and getting their legs in the right position for the shots.

In addition to the inoculations for rabies and distemper, dogs were tested for Lyme disease and heart worm.

Microchipping to protect against a pet becoming lost was an option.

One cat objected to being handled and escaped from the handlers but immediately calmed down when picked up by her human companion.

The registration team expected there would be 125 dogs and cats treated when the event was finished.

Jennifer Gulick of New Tripoli brought her German shepherd mix, Lucy, to be vaccinated at Forgotten Felines and Fidos fundraising clinic.
