Central Grange 1650 presents 50-year award to Miriam Masters

Members of Central Grange 1650 gathered May 10 at the Germansville Fire Company to honor its oldest member, Miriam Masters, of Germansville.

Many in the Northwestern Lehigh community may remember her as their third-grade teacher at Northwestern Elementary School.

Mrs. Masters started her teaching career at an Amish School in Lancaster County and retired after 40 years of teaching from the Northwestern Lehigh School District.

Presented with a Gold Sheaf Award for her 50 years of grange membership, she also received flowers, birthday cards, balloons and a birthday cake in honor of her 100th birthday which was celebrated the same day.

Mrs. Masters has many fond memories of her teaching career and still has a very sharp mind. Many attending the celebration were former students and she remembered them all.
