Traffic detail conducted on east side

Salisbury Township police conducted “Operation Clean Slate,” in what the department described as “heightened directed patrols,” April 27 and May 4, on Salisbury Township’s east side.

According to Sgt. Donald Sabo, who reported on the traffic enforcement operation at the May 10 township board of commissioners’ meeting, 10 officers addressed “traffic issues, quality of life complaints” and “various ordinance violations” reported to the police department.

Officers logged 14 arrests, eight of which were drug-related; one classified as an assault; two listed as driving under the influence and one for underage drinking.

“Two actors were also taken into custody from a stolen vehicle,” Sabo reported.

“Officers also issued citations for driving under suspension, drivers required to be licensed, vehicles required to be registered, various equipment violations and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration,” according to the report.

“Approximately 90 hours of overtime will be submitted for reimbursement through two separate grants,” Sabo said.
