Lehigh County administration requested Commissioner Amanda Holt withdraw a proposed amendment to the professional services agreement with Computer Aid, Inc. for information technology management services May 9. No reason was given. The same amendment had been delayed at the last meeting at the request of Lehigh County Commissioner Brad Osborne who wanted time to study the effect of the amendment on other issues.

The company, Computer Aid, Inc., had attracted the focus of some commissioners when they learned the company had made a contribution to Lehigh County Commissioner President and Republican candidate for U.S. representative Marty Nothstein.

Nothstein returned the contribution after it was challenged by Lehigh County’s legal department.

In other legislative action, the commissioners approved an amendment to the professional services agreement with audiology services to provide onsite audiology support for the Cedarbrook Nursing facility owned by Lehigh County.

Two Boy Scouts – Tyler Timothy Prehl and Ben Heintzelman, were honored by the commissioners in resolutions commending them for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

Heintzelman is a member of Boy Scout Troop 261 in the Minsi Trails Council. His Eagle Scout Project was to design and construct a woodshed for firewood storage at Ziegel’s Union Church, in Breinigsville.

Prehl is a Parkland High School student with a 4.4 GPA. He will attend West Chester University with a full scholarship this fall.

Heintzelman attended the meeting with his family – grandfather Harold Heintzelman Jr., his father Gregory and his mother Christine. Eagle Scout Ben Heintzelman posed for a picture with the commissioners.

Toward the end of the commissioner’s meeting, County Executive Phillips Armstrong said the planned lighting project for the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Seventh Street and Hamilton Boulevard will be delayed for six or seven weeks because of issues in getting some of the necessary components of the planned lighting system.

Armstrong also announced plans to have area school districts send students to shadow Lehigh County cabinet officials during what he called a student government day. The event is planned for 9 a.m. June 13.
