May 18

Meet and Greet Movie Night with the Lehigh Valley Steel Hawks 6 p.m. at Bethany Church, 429 Walnut St., Catasauqua. The movie starts 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. There will be a limited number of autographed footballs for children. Popcorn and water for the movie will be provided. Fans also may bring snacks and beverages.

Emmaus Historical Society program 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. “The Stryer Section” will be presented by Bill Barto and Patty (Stryer) Zazo, daughter of builder C. Lewis Stryer who developed homes in the Stryer section in the 1940s and 1950s. The big screen slide show will include the much admired chalets on Fernwood and Glenwood streets. Topton Community Street Fair “Topdog” festival 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. including hot dog eating and Whoopie pie making contests; car show and cruise, tours of Topton, family fun, live music, yard sales, crafters, food, music by Woodside Avenue and more. Call Jonathan at 610-780-3666 for more information.

Spring Festivi-TEA presented by the Emmaus Garden Club, 2 to 4 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. Event includes savories and sweeties along with door prizes and more. A paper shredding event will be held 10 a.m. to noon at the office of state Rep. Justin Simmons, R-131st, 21 N. Main St., Unit 9, Coopersburg. The event is open to residents only – no businesses. Residents can bring documents containing sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, medical data or bank account information to be shredded at no cost. The Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, will hold Music Ministry Sunday to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the church, 10:30 a.m. The choral choir, bell choir and ensemble will perform. A social hour will follow. All are welcome.

May 21

Recruitment meet and greet at the Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company, 950 S. Ott St. (adjacent to Green Acres Park), 6:30 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be available. For more information, call 610-437-6600.

The Women’s Club of Emmaus will meet 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. The program will be presented by Louise Schultz on “Time Out in Thailand.” Election of officers will also take place.

May 27

Emmaus Veterans Committee will honor departed comrades buried in each of the six cemeteries. The public is invited to be present for a short prayer service, rifle salute and taps. The ceremonies begin 8 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, then proceed to Old Moravian, Moravian at Ridge Street, Lutheran Reformed, Northwood and ending at Evangelical, Second and Ridge streets.

The veterans brick installation ceremony 1 p.m. at the Emmaus Remembrance Garden 164 E. Main St., on the grounds of the Knaus Homestead.
