Pennsylvania College of Technology
Joelle E. Perelli, of Bath, competed on Pennsylvania College of Technology’s SkillsUSA team for the April 18-20 Pennsylvania Leadership and Skills Conference in Hershey. She placed first in the welding fabrication category and is moving on to a national competition June 25-30. She is majoring in welding and fabrication engineering technology.
The theme for the competition was “Champions at Work: Job-Ready, Day One.”
This month’s results bring the number of Penn College students who have gone on to national competition over the years to 175. Fifty-one students have won medals there.
Muhlenberg College
Muhlenberg College held its annual honors convocation designed to honor and celebrate leadership and scholarly excellence and achievement April 29. The awards recognize select members of the faculty and student body for their contributions to the college, to their peers and to their disciplines.
Erin Lindenmuth, of Whitehall, Class of 2018, received the Lucille Cafouros Award and the Dr. Charles S. Bednar Award.
The Lucille Cafouros Award is given for the most outstanding contribution to the study of sociology. The other award is in honor of Dr. Charles S. Bednar, former chair of the political science department, and is awarded to a senior political science major who best exemplifies academic excellence through qualities, such as superior scholarship, intellectual curiosity and public service.
Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg is a highly selective, private, four-year residential, liberal arts college located in Allentown. With an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2,200 students, Muhlenberg College is dedicated to shaping creative, compassionate, collaborative leaders through rigorous academic programs in the arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences, as well as selected pre-professional programs, including accounting, business, education and public health.
ESU
Accompanied by Kimberly S. Adams, Ph.D., professor of political science, 26 students from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, including David Vanhorn, of Coplay, took part in the State System Student Leadership Summit April 24.
The student-focused leadership summit provided a unique space for state system student leaders to develop and refine leadership competencies through presentations, breakout sessions and networking. Each participant had the opportunity to build relationships with a diverse panel of Pennsylvania leaders from Governor Wolf’s office, Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, State System’s Office of the Chancellor and the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg.
East Stroudsburg University, one of the 14 institutions in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, opened in 1893 as East Stroudsburg Normal School. Fairleigh Dickinson University
Brooke Sherwin, of Coplay, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham campus, located in Madison, N.J. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must carry a 3.2 or better GPA out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours.

Bob Jones University
Sarah Worsham, of Walnutport, was among approximately 520 Bob Jones University students named to the spring 2018 president’s list. She is a junior elementary education major. The president’s list recognizes those students who earn a 3.75 or higher GPA for the semester.
