District news: Congrats, students, on SkillsUSA win!
Three Northampton Area High School and Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School students won medals at the Skills- USA State Championships in Hershey in April.
Samuel Costenbader won a gold medal for electronics technology, and Christian Stezelberger received gold for industrial motor control. Austin Kern won the bronze medal for firefighting.
Overall, 23 local students won medals in 22 different events at the competition.
Seven won gold, seven won silver and nine won bronze medals. Gold-medal winners will represent Pennsylvania at the National Leadership & Skills Conference in Louisville, Ky., from June 25 to June 29.
SkillsUSA Council is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create a world-class workforce through professional development of local career and technical education students and partnerships with the local business community, and to support local economic and community growth in the greater Lehigh Valley.

The NAHS orchestra concert is scheduled to be performed 7 p.m. tomorrow, May 11.

At 7 p.m. May 16, the elementary orchestra concert will be performed. The concert is held in the auditorium of the high school.

Lehigh Elementary School will hold its chorus concert 7 p.m. May 17.

George Wolf Elementary School’s band recital will be performed 7 p.m. May 18.

Due to inclement weather this past winter, there has been a change to the school calendar and attendance days. June 6, 7, 8 and 11 will now be half school days. June 11 will be the last day of school for students. Teachers’ last day will be June 12.
On these half days, no lunches will be served.

The fourth annual Northampton Area School District Student Council car show will be held July 18 at Bicentennial Park West, 5351 Park West Lane (off Colony Drive), East Allen Township. The rain date is July 29. Time of the event is 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with registration 9 a.m.-noon. Awards will be distributed 3 p.m.
Come on out and enjoy viewing cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors. All makes, models and years are welcome. There will be dash plaques for the first 100 preregistered cars.
There will be 30 awards, door prizes, a tricky tray, food, deejay and a craft and flea market.
All proceeds benefit NASD Student Council.

Commemorative brick pavers that will be placed at the new memorial plaza outside the entrance of Al Erdosy Stadium and the entrance to the new district swimming pool are still available for purchase. This memorial plaza will be the center of the secondary campus.
This buy-a-brick fundraiser is sponsored by Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation, and all proceeds will be used to supplement and enhance NASD K-12 education programs.
