STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is French. I have always found learning new words and phrases fascinating, which led my family to host a French exchange student two summers ago. I was lucky enough to be able to visit our student the next summer as an American exchange student in France. The trip only heightened my interest in the language and I hope to be able to live there one day so I can really put my knowledge to use.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Along with making Principal’s Honor Roll every semester, I am a member of National Honor Society and French National Honor Society. I have also received the Academic Excellence Award and the Excellence in Science Award.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I have played Emmaus girls basketball for four years and been on the cross country team for three years. I really enjoy volunteering with Hornet Ambassadors, Pediatric Cancer Club, and Principal’s Advisory Board. I am also treasurer of French Club.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I have committed to Penn State University Park to major in nursing. After I graduate college, I hope to continue my education as a pediatric nurse practitioner and work in a children’s hospital.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date would be learning that everything can’t be 100 percent perfect. I have been a perfectionist since I was a small child and would drive myself crazy making sure my work had no mistakes. As I have gotten further along in life, I have learned that some things are out of my control. While I need to work my hardest, that may not always result in perfection and I have learned to be OK with that.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as someone who has good character, someone who works hard for what I want, but most importantly someone who is reliable and always there for the people who mean the most to me.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My father’s name is Christopher and my mother’s name is Suzanne. I also have an older brother Connor and a younger brother Ryan.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire both of my parents. My mom has unconditional love, is incredibly caring and stands up for what she believes in. My dad is one of the hardest workers I know and always makes the best of the worst situations.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My best advice I can give my peers is to get involved. You only have four years in high school and they go by very quickly. It may seem overwhelming to join multiple clubs/sports but you will make some of your closest friends. You have the rest of your life to worry, so use your time in high school to work hard, have fun and create unforgettable memories.
