Catasauqua: Arbor Day event is April 28
Catasauqua Shade Tree Commission invites the public to attend its annual Arbor Day celebration 10 a.m. April 28 at the Catasauqua Municipal Complex, 90 Bridge St. Trees will be dedicated to Eugene Goldfeder, Jeffrey Mac- Hose, the Rev. George F. Spieker, Jillian Emert, Pat Kerin and Betty Miller.
The commission recognizes worthy individuals or organizations who have made a difference in the community by planting a tree and dedicating it at the annual Arbor Day celebration. This is an annual public service program of the borough by the commission and the mayor.
Refreshments will be served.

Reminder: The deadline for ordering tickets and payment for St. Mary’s May 11 drive-thru chicken dinner is April 29.

The youth at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., will be having their junior Victorian tea and basket raffle 2-4 p.m. May 6. Doors open 1:30 p.m. for the basket raffle.
There will be kid-friendly beverages, desserts, activities and door prizes.
Dads, sons and grandsons are welcome, too. You can dress up or come casual. There will be a prize for the best dressed.
All of the funds raised will benefit the monthly sponsorship of a teenager through World Vision.

Catasauqua property owners, please take note: The planting, pruning or removal of any curbside trees must be approved by Catasauqua Shade Tree Commission, and a no-fee permit must be obtained by calling 610-264-0571. Your request will be forwarded to the commission for action.
An informal pamphlet - “Are Your Trees in Violation?” - is available at the municipal complex.
A notice to property owners who have removed a tree but have not removed the stump below the surface of the ground: You have 30 days to comply with this order to remove the stump or face a fine of no less than $50, but no more than $300, for each violation and for each tree concerned, plus all costs of prosecution.
