As Supervisor Tom Wehr was absent, Linda Gorgas took over to direct the Weisenberg supervisors’ April 9 meeting.

Of note is the change back to the original polling place for township voters.

The polling location will remain at Hope Community Church, contrary to what was stated at the board’s March meeting, as it was decided Weisenberg Fire Company would not have adequate parking available.

In other matters, Tony Werley noted New Enterprise was awarded the bids for road materials.

This included stone, cold patch and paving material. PATCO received the nod for supply of diesel fuel and gasoline.

Line painting was given to A-1 Traffic Control while AMS got the crack seal bid. The joint oil bid was also awarded.

Weisenberg Fields Park has a $26,900 escrow fund set aside by the contractor for work done at the park.

This money would be used to repair or correct any deficiencies at the soccer field at the park.

The contractor wants to draw on this fund. However, Solicitor Peter Lehr advised the board to wait one month before returning any money so that the condition of the park could be inspected.

The board decided to move forward with the agreement to stay with the intermunicipal planning agency.

Lynn, Heidelberg, Lowhill, Weisenberg and Washington townships are members along with the Borough of Slatington.

Tony Fiorello, Sparky’s Pet Salon, showed a plan to pave a driveway on his lot on Claussville Road.

He was asking for a waiver on the setback of the paving due to the small size of the lot.

The required setback under the ordinance is 10 feet. His driveway would get as close as 3 feet to the property line.

As he has received a letter from his neighbor stating he, the neighbor, had no objection to the placement of the driveway, the board granted the waiver.

The road crew was doing more that plowing snow in March.

They were trimming brush, sweeping, patching dirt roads and repairing and maintaining the equipment.

The township received some complaints about yard damage from plowing in the recent snow.

Gorgas noted this was due to the ground being thawed allowing the plow more chance to dig into the ground.

Solicitor Lehr noted the zoning hearing board case in which the township is involved is on the agenda for the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas.

State Street Notary is appealing the decision of the zoning hearing board in relation to property at the intersection of Golden Key Road and Old 22.

Township Administrator Brian Carl discussed the installation of fencing at the multi-purpose fields in Weisenberg Fields Park.

At a cost of $6,099, the fence would be extended approximately 500 feet, starting at the chain link fence in existance and following the property line.

Palram America has donated $6,000 of evergreen trees for the park.

A sign noting the donation will be installed on the fencing.

Also discussed was the possibility of installing 3-foot by 5-foot advertising signs on the fencing.
