Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is computer science. I thoroughly enjoy the creative aspects incorporated within the courses as well as the critical thinking required to obtain proficiency in the field of study.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am a QuestBridge Scholar. I have achieved Principal’s Honor Roll at EHS for all marking periods as of now. I was part of the five-member intermediate division team as a sophomore and we placed fifth in the American Computer Science League contest held in New Hampshire.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I am the treasurer of the American Computer Science League club and compete in a multitude of programming competitions throughout the school year. I am a member of the Interact Club which is the high school branch of the Rotary Club and volunteer at various events such as Miracle League. I also volunteer as an altar server at St. Ann’s. I am also a member of cross country and track and field.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I aim to study artificial intelligence in college and hope to use my education to contribute to the rapidly developing field of artificial intelligence.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I consider the math competitions that I compete in through the Pennsylvania Math League to be my greatest challenges. They require a completely different thought process from school mathematics and while enjoyable, they are also quite challenging.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my willingness to help those around me in my school and community.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My father’s name is Tuan, my mother’s name is Thu and my older sister’s name is Tu.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I greatly admire my teachers whose sacrifice I believe does not get enough recognition. It takes a great amount of dedication and patience to pass on knowledge to the younger generation and I attribute a large portion of my desire to succeed to them.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice is to always challenge yourself and not be afraid to try something new. I took my first computer science course in ninth grade without any prior background knowledge and I have grown to love programming.
