Lehigh County Conservation District and the Centers for Dairy and Beef Excellence announces its first 2018 “Healthy Farms and Healthy Animals, Healthy Water: Planning for Sustainability” series of workshops from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on April 25 and May 2 at the Lehigh County Agricultural Building, 4184 Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall.
Workshops are geared toward the agricultural community and strive to educate landowners and livestock farmers to become compliant with Pennsylvania’s environmental regulations.
“Healthy Farms and Healthy Animals, Healthy Water: Planning for Sustainability” cover manure and nutrient management and erosion and sediment control on livestock operations.
The first two workshops will be open to all farmers, regardless of size, to develop farm maps and a soil erosion and sediment control plan. Pennsylvania state law requires all farmers who plow and till, including no till, to have an implemented agricultural soil erosion and sediment control plan.
