Terry Plinke has been named the new advertising director for the Lehigh Valley Press’ eight weekly newspapers.
Plinke started her career in medical laboratory sales in 1976.
She and her husband, Richard, worked together in Outdoor Marketing Systems, creating transit advertising for bus shelters and on buses.
Born and raised in Reading, Berks County, the mother of three adult sons and her husband live in the West End of Allentown.
A Penn State graduate, Plinke has 10 years print sales experience having worked previously for two Lehigh Valley daily papers before coming to the Lehigh Valley Press in 2017.
Plinke commented on her new role at the weekly newspapers.
“There is a strong place for print in the digital world,” Plinke said. “Print advertising works.”
Plinke said the local format of community-based papers offers an advantage to advertisers.
“Nobody in the Lehigh Valley touches local news like we do,” Plinke said. “We are community driven.”
The new advertising director also has a message for our advertisers and for our readers.
“I would like to thank the advertisers and the communities who have supported us all these years,” Plinke said. “I will focus on the local communities and help them build their businesses.”
