Track teams host Knights, Bombers

Salisbury was swept by Palmerton and Pen Argyl in last week’s season-opening track meet at Salisbury High School.

The Salisbury girls team fell 84-65 to Palmerton and 78-66 to Pen Argyl, while the boys team lost 124-16.5 to Palmerton and 106-40 to Pen Argyl.

The Falcons had several individual winners in the girls meet.

Erica Holben first in high jump (5-0) and long jump (15-0 3/4). Salisbury girls finished 1-2-3 in long jump with Olivia Hoeing taking second place and Melena Koutch in third.

Koutch was another one of Salisbury’s winner, taking first place in triple jump (32-5). Hoeing second in all three jumps.

The Falcons swept the girls throwing events as Jacara Smith tool first place in shot put at 26-5; Kaitlyn Keller won discus at 79-10; and Margaux Petruska placed first in javelin at 96-0.

Salisbury’s boys team did not have an individual winner. Distance runner Michael Sosnowski finished second in 1600 and third in 800.
