LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN

Now that Easter’s over, we’re all more than ready for spring, particularly after that cold, miserable, snowy March.

Once again, the Joint Environmental Advisory Council of Emmaus and Upper Milford Township will celebrate spring by sponsoring an Earth Day community cleanup. It will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon April 14. Participants will meet at Emmaus Community Park for coffee and to get organized, then start cleaning up by 9 a.m. Instructions and directions to all the cleanup sites will be provided at the park.

Community members from Emmaus and Upper Milford (and surrounding areas) are invited to participate in this fun, earth-conscious event by cleaning up litter and debris from sites around the borough and township.

Electronics recycling will be available at the park starting 9 a.m. during the event – just stop by with items to recycle such as televisions, computers, printers, air conditioners and batteries. Some fees will apply (see price list at www.uppermilford.net). This will continue until noon or until the truck is full.

Document shredding will also be available at Emmaus Community Park during the event at no charge to the community. Any type of office paper will be accepted. There is no need to remove staples. Items which will not be accepted are newspapers, cardboard or books. Shredding will take place on the site while you wait. There is a limit of four boxes per household (office file size boxes only). This is open to residents only, no commercial businesses. Shredding will be offered 9 a.m. to noon or until the truck is full.

More details will be posted online; find the EAC on Facebook or email the EAC at info@uppermilford.net to be placed on an email list for updates.

This is a public event and photos may be taken at any time. Parents and group leaders are responsible for ensuring all children are properly supervised and any special needs are addressed.
