ASO Chamber Series: The Allentown Symphony Association announces its second annual collboration with the Arts at St. John’s for the “ASO Chamber Series” at St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church, 37 S. Fifth St., Alentown. Allentown Symphony Orchestra musicians, along with guests soloists, will perform four 50-minute concerts during April in the beautiful nave of the stained-glass church. The first, at 12:10 p.m. April 3, features Eliezer Gutman, violinist and Concertmaster of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, and Lotus Cheng, pianist. The program: Kreisler, ”Tempo di Minuetto” (in the style of Pugnani); Bach, “Partita for solo violin No. 3 in E Major” (1. Preludio; 3. Gavotte en Rondeau); Beethoven, “Sonata for Piano and Violin, Op. 23, No. 4, in A minor” (1. Presto; 2. Andante scherzoso, piu Allegretto; 3. Allegro molto), Dvorak, “Romance for violin and piano in F minor, Op. 11,” and Kreisler, “Danse Espagnole” (from the opera, “La Vida Breve,” by Manuel de Falla). Programs are free and open to the public. A free-will donation is accepted. Parking is available at the Community Deck, Sixth and Walnut streets, Allentown.

All the way to Memphis: “One Night in Memphis” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 31, State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton. “One Night in Memphis” features more than 90 minutes of rockabilly, country, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll recreating the night of Dec. 4, 1956, when Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash jammed at Sam Phillip’s Sun Studios in Memphis, Tenn. The jam session was recorded and preserved for all time, representing the performers in their prime. “One Night in Memphis” is created and directed by John Mueller (“Winter Dance Party”).
