Nazareth: ‘Little Women’

Nazareth Area High School brings the 19th century back to life with “Little Women the Musical,” at 7 p.m. April 5, 6, 12 and 13, and 2 and 7 p.m. April 7 and 14, auditorium, Nazareth Area High School, 501 E. Center St., Nazareth.

John Andreadis directs the Nazareth production, assisted by music director Pamela Westphal, choreographer Colette Boudreaux, and pit orchestra director Rick Hilborn.

The production is based on “Little Women,” the semi-autobiographical novel by Louisa May Alcott. Sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March experience personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love while growing up during the Civil War in the United States.

With music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and book by Allan Knee, the musical, opening on Broadway in 2005, was nominated for one Tony Award.

“Astonishing,” “Five Forever,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Here Alone,” and “Small Umbrella in the Rain” are among featured songs.
