PSSA testing will begin next week for grades 3 through 8. The state testing will go on for two weeks.

Fourth grade will have an additional week for science testing. It is very important students do their very best to attend school during these dates.

Be sure to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast. Also, it is important to be on time and prompt arriving to school.

The end of the third marking period is April 5. Report cards will be available approximately April 12.

Parents/guardians can access report cards electronically through the parent portal on the district website, whitehallcoplay.org. The parent portal has the latest information, which, for some schools, includes monthly newsletters.

Kindergarten registration is underway. Parents can access and complete the online registration by logging on to the district website. Select a date and time to meet with the enrollment secretary to present all the required documentation. Parents can visit the school website to read the requirements.

To complete the registration, parents or guardians will be given an appointment to bring their child to meet with the guidance counselor or principal, school nurse, ESOL teacher and reading specialist for a brief assessment at Gockley Elementary School April 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13.

Your child must be 5 years old before Sept. 1.

Whitehall Theater Club is presenting “The Addams Family Musical” 7 p.m. April 12-14 and 2 p.m. April 15 in the auditorium of the high school, and tickets are on sale now.

The Harlem Wizards basketball game, which was to be held March 22 at the Whitehall High School gymnasium, has been rescheduled due to the recent snow and school closing. The new date will be 7 p.m. April 20. Doors open 6 p.m. for a game between the Wizards and Whitehall staff. Tickets are still on sale for $10. Email pgaugler@rcn.com.

Whitehall-Coplay School District’s band program is currently collecting used band instruments to add to its supply. Flute, clarinet, bass, alto, tenor, baritone saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone tuba, snare drum and bell kit are being sought.

The department will take any instrument regardless of the condition. A company will pay the district music department for instruments that are beyond repair; that money will go toward the band budget for new instruments. Bring the instrument to the school office where your student attends.
