Annual donation drive begins

ESFD

Eastern Salisbury Fire Department is appealing to residents and business owners in the township for donations to maintain the highest possible level of service to those in the eastern side of the township.

The fire department is entering its 29th year of providing fire and rescue service to the community.

Although the township provides a portion of the fire department’s financial needs, contributions allow the volunteers continued training and the latest tools and technology.

In 2017, ESFD responded to 377 fire and rescue incidents. Volunteers have logged over 5,000 hours on incidents in 2017.

Last year, the department purchased several items for the district’s tanker truck and the non-hydrant areas of Salisbury. Last year’s contributions also went toward the station’s two brush trucks.

The department is working on pre-incident surveys and pre-plans. If anyone in the household is wheelchair bound, bed bound or unable to exit the home freely, a form is included in the latest fundraising packet to let fire department volunteers know. Child find stickers and animal finder stickers are also available. The child find stickers should be placed on the bedroom door of the child, not on the windows.

The department is also reminding residents and business owners Salisbury Township requires three inch numbers on each mailbox.

“If we can’t find you, we can’t help you,” ESFD Chief David Tomcics said.

To obtain these stickers, call the fire department at 610-797-5227 or send a note with your donation.
