Caitlin McGarry, 23, of Schuylkill County, has died, almost 11 months after she was involved in a two-vehicle crash 7:19 a.m. April 26 near Dorney Park, in the 3500 block of Hamilton Blvd., South Whitehall Township.
According to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim, McGarry was pronounced dead at noon March 17 at The Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital, Bethlehem.
An autopsy was scheduled for March 19 to determine the exact cause of her death, Grim said.
According to a news release dated April 26, 2017, South Whitehall police say upon arriving at the crash scene, they found a Toyota Camry with severe damage and a Jeep Cherokee on its roof.
Police say the Toyota was driven by McGarry, of the 50 block of Blossom Lane, Schuylkill Haven.
The Jeep was driven by Runo Ouano, of the 300 block of Linden St., Allentown.
Police say McGarry was traveling east and Ouano was traveling west, both on Hamilton Boulevard, when Ouano’s Jeep crossed over the median and struck McGarry’s car.
McGarry was extricated from her vehicle by volunteer firefighters from Cetronia Fire Department.
Ouano was ejected from her vehicle and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and the South Whitehall Township Police Department are investigating.
