NCC to Screen Film “Payback:
Atwood based film on March 28
Northampton Community College will hold a free public screening of “Payback”, a film based on Margaret Atwood’s book about debt and societal values, at 7 p.m. March 28 at Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way. It will be followed with a discussion led by Dr. Cara McClintock-Walsh, professor of English. The showing is part of the NCC annual humanities program, “Exploring Identity through the Humanities.” For complementary tickets, call 610-332-3378.

The Len Roberts Poetry Day free public poetry reading by Maggie Smith will be held at 11 a.m. March 27 in Lipkin Theatre, Bethlehem Campus The event is open to the public and free.
She is the author of three books of poetry and three chapbooks including Good Bones (Tupelo Press, 2017). Public Radio International called the title poem “the official poem of 2016.”
Her poems appear in Best American Poetry, the New York Times, Tin House, The Believer, The Paris Review, Ploughshares, The Gettysburg Review, Guernica, Plume, AGNI, Virginia Quarterly Review, and elsewhere.

named to NCF
Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization, e public purposes of higher education, has announced that NCC student Jesse Lewis, of Cresco, has been named to the CC 2018 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows.
The Newman Civic Fellowship, named for Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, is a one-year experience emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth. The Newman Civic Fellowship is supported by the KPMG Foundation and the Newman’s Own Foundation.

Society for Human Resource Management Learning System classes will begin on April 7. Classes will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday through May 12 at the Center Valley campus, 2809 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley.
