A special night for a special cause

Young girls across Bethlehem Area School District put on their dresses and dancing shoes for a fancy night out with their dads Feb. 25. BASD Mini THON Daddy Daughter Dance was held at Liberty HS in the upstairs gymnasium from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The invitation was given to elementary school girls encouraged to bring their dads or even grandfathers, uncles, and older brothers. All four of these were also in attendance, enjoying their time with their special girls.

Over 400 people attended this year and had a blast dancing the night away accompanied by a DJ. Music of all types such as catchy pop songs, to slowed down country music kept the couples on their feet.

This is the third consecutive year BASD Mini THON held the Daddy Daughter Dance and it is one of their many fundraisers done during the year. All profits made at the dance and other fundraisers like this one, go directly to creating the Mini THON grand total benefiting the Four Diamonds Fund. This is the same organization Penn State University fundraises for during their THON which was held in February.

Their goal is to help find a cure for pediatric cancer. The grand total will be revealed at this year’s 6th BASD Mini THON, to be held April 21.

All of the planning for this event was done by THON leaders at Liberty and Freedom High School, specifically Kate Wagner, the BASD Mini THON 2018 Events Committee Captain. Wagner, a senior at Liberty, has been running the Father Daughter Dance event all three years of it’s years. Although next year she will be graduated, Wagner noted she was excited for her younger team members to takeover to continue this wonderful tradition.
