Allentown police have announced they will have a news conference later today regarding the missing persons case involving Amy Yu, 16, of Allentown, and Kevin Michael Esterly, 45, of Lowhill Township.

Yesterday, Alerta Amber Mexico issued an Amber Alert for the pair who have been missing since March 5.

The alert was posted 11:20 p.m. March 15 on Twitter.

Yu, an Asian female, standing 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 90 pounds, is a student at Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School, Bethlehem.

Esterly is a white male, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds.

Two days earlier, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed to The Press that, according to ICE officials, the Philadelphia HSI office is involved in the case but would not comment further.

Allentown Assistant Police Chief Bill Reinik spoke with The Press March 9 about their disappearance.

“Basically, we have a 45-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl who left together, and we are considering them endangered,” Reinik said. “The two families met through Esterly’s children at church.

“Our No. 1 goal is to locate the 16-year-old and bring her home safely. We are working with federal and state law enforcement agencies to locate them.”

According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained March 9, Allentown Police Officer Andrew Hackman states around 6:35 p.m. on March 5, Luu reported her daughter as a runaway and said she was last seen at 7:09 a.m. that same day in the area of N. 15th and W. Allen Sts., Allentown.

According to the affidavit, Stacey Esterly said approximately $4,000 was withdrawn from her bank account by her husband the same day and she last saw him at 6:05 a.m. that morning at their home.

She also stated her husband’s personal documents were taken from their home.
