LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Article By: The Press

Grade: 11

Family members: Lilitha Adury, Neelima Adury and Prasad Adury

Favorite subject: My two favorite classes are AP chemistry and journalism. Over the past few months I have learned so much in chemistry, from kinetics to thermodynamics. I have thoroughly enjoyed the material. Journalism is one of my favorite classes because I get to express myself as a leader since I’m the co-editor in chief of Liberty’s school newspaper. I teach other students how to use Adobe InDesign while at the same time develop my own writing skills.

Activities: Debate, Liberty Life (school newspaper), PJAS/LVSF, Young Democrats Club, Science Olympiad, Scholastic Scrimmage, DECA, Mini-THON and theater.

Next steps: I hope to pursue a career in public health and health management.

Career goals: Hospital CEO

Heroes: My childhood hero has always been my sister – I hope to one day be as successful as she is. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t think I would be where I am today.

Hobbies: I love to cook, read, follow politics and conduct small-scale independent research.

Volunteer/community work: I volunteer at Holy Family Manor, a nursing home in Bethlehem, where I assist the activities staff on the Dementia Care Unit.

Likes: I like Indian food, my friends and family, and meaningful discussion about pertinent issues.

Dislikes: Judgmental people, onions and a bad attitude

Greatest accomplishment (so far): In the 2016 election, I worked with the Hillary Clinton and Katy McGinty campaigns in order to raise the Latino voter turnout in Allentown. While Clinton did not win the election, I felt I made a significant difference in my community.

Advice for peers: Try new things! Never try to pigeonhole your area of study, your friend group or the activities you participate in when in high school.

Student profile subjects are selected by faculty and administration at the individual schools.
