Salisbury High School presents “Once Upon a Mattress,” a musical comedy inspired by “The Princess and the Pea,” a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.
Show times are 7 p.m. March 15, 16, 17 and 3 p.m. March 18, auditorium, Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St., Salisbury Township.
The show, with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer, opened on Broadway in 1959.
Will Windsor Erwin directs the Salisbury production, assisted by music director Nina M. Elias, choreographer Kirsten Almeida, and technical director Chris West.
The 1959 Broadway production received two Tony Award nominations and the 1996 Broadway revival was nominated for one Tony.
Notable songs include “Shy,” “Sensitivity,” “In a Little While,” “Song of Love,” and “Yesterday I Loved You.”
