Upper Milford Township supervisors approved a number of items impacting public works and land development during a brief meeting March 1.

Secretary Jessi O’Donald brought the park, recreation and environmental plan from the parks and recreation committee before the supervisors for review. The plan spells out what improvements the committee would like to see made to the township’s parks and green spaces and incorporates input from the residents who filled out the survey on the township’s website. Those results indicated the public’s overall satisfaction with the township’s parks with a desire for more fitness trails and passes.

The supervisors also agreed to contribute a letter of support requested by the Borough of Emmaus for a grant application to fund a study on the state of the borough’s parks and trails.

In other business, the supervisors passed a resolution to wrap up Phase 1 and begin Phase 2 of the development of the Fields at Indian Creek. In five phases, or sections, the 79 acres of land is being transformed into a community that will include 218 single-family homes with green spaces and trails. This next phase will involve building 32 more homes between Treeview Drive and Daylily Drive.

Township manager Bud Carter also received approval to advertise a call for bids for yearly maintenance to the township’s roads.

Finally, the supervisors approved bill payments totaling $63,765.19 for a number of routine expenses including $13,453 to Morton Salt, Inc. and $24,712 to Ott Consulting, Inc. Other expenses included utilities, office supplies and life insurance.
