At the March 1 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, an update on the progress of the community center and library addition was presented. Behind the scenes of development and the beginnings of construction are many activities not necessarily noticed by the public. The most recent step in this progress is the approval of the design. Presently, the timeline for completion is Dec. 15 for the library and Feb. 15, 2019 for the community center.
The sewer plan for the upgrade at the community center was approved.
The Lichtenwalner family has agreed to have their property on Indian Creek Road appraised. The request was made and will be completed as soon as possible.
Fire hydrant installation in part of Liberty at Mill Creek and Spring Creek properties as well as the Life Church property was approved by the commissioners.
The traffic line striping bid was presented with two bidders responding. The bid was awarded to A-1 Traffic Control with a bid of $75,000.
Traffic control is being discussed for Mill Creek Road. Suggested solutions included radar equipment, speed bars, rumble strips and speed bumps. Further discussion will continue.
