Northampton Community College
Atwood to speak on April 17
Margaret Atwood will be the keynote speaker of Northampton Community College’s annual humanities program at 7:30 p.m. on April 17 at the Arthur L. Spartan Center, 3835 Green Pond Road.
The “Exploring Identity through the Humanities” program is free, but tickets are required. For more information, visit: www.northampton.edu/MargaretAtwood.
The Canadian born author’s novels, “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Alias Grace”, have been adapted for television. She is a vice president of PEN International.
The event is presented through an endowment for the humanities established through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and generous donors. Community Partners include the Bethlehem Area Public Library, Eastern Monroe Public Library, Bethlehem Area School District, Stroudsburg Area School District, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites and Monroe County Historical Association.
Nurse Aide training information March 1
A Certified Nurse Aide training program information session will be held at 6 p.m. on March 1 at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.

Craft Fair on March 10
Northampton Community College will hold an Alumni Association Spring Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 10 in the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center, 3835 Green Pond Road.
One hundred crafters with handcrafted treasures, including jewelry and accessories, clothing, foods, floral arrangements, and more.

Fab Lab courses begin March 13
Fab Lab is offering a build a 3D Printer class with Filament innovations owner Mike Gorski. beginning at 6:30 p.m. March 13 and unmanned small fixed winged aircraft classes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 3, 10 and 17, all in the Fab Lab at the Fowler Family Southside Center.

Penn State Lehigh Valley
Ruling favors grad assistants
The Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board ruled recently that Penn State graduate assistants have union rights under the Pennsylvania Employee Relations Act.
The decision is a culmination of a week-long hearing in September 2017, where Penn State administrators argued that graduate assistants were not employees.
An election date has not been set, but will be forthcoming.
Summer online courses announced
Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced 43 different for-credit courses that will be available for online completion this summer. Registration is now open for session 1: May 14-June 22 (No classes May 28) and for session 2: June 27-August 8 (no classes July 4). There are also on-campus summer courses available.
Current Penn State students may register through LionPATH by selecting the Lehigh Valley campus as the course location. New students can visit http://lehighvalley.psu.edu/summer or call 610-285-5060 for more information.
