“Singin’ in the Rain” splashes and taps across the stage as Catasauqua High School time travels to 1927 when silent movies were becoming obsolete and the “talkies” were just beginning to appear on the silver screen.
Curtain times are 7 p.m. March 9, 10 and 2 p.m. March 11 with a preview, 7 p.m. March 8, auditorium, Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Hanover Township.
Director Brenda McGuire, who is also costume designer, is assisted by choreographer and assistant director Kerry McGuire, assistant choreographer Jessica Englert, orchestra director Robert Arnold, and vocal director Deborah Ihling.
The musical was adapted from the 1952 movie of the same name with music by Nacio Herb Brown, lyrics by Arthur Freed, and book by Adolph Green and Betty Comden. “Singin’ in the Rain,” which opened on Broadway in 1985, received two Tony Award nominations.
Songs include “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Moses Supposes,” “Broadway Melody,” “Make ’Em Laugh,” and “Good Morning.”
