Bethlehem Catholic HS’s annual miniTHON took place on Saturday, March 3 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. MiniTHON, a branch of Penn State University’s THON, is a 12 hour dance marathon in which students stay on their feet for 12 hours straight to raise money for families affected by pediatric cancer.
All of the proceeds raised by THON and miniTHON are donated to the Four Diamonds Fund, an organization that assists families battling pediatric cancer with paying medical bills and funding research.
This year, with 380 dancers, Bethlehem Catholic raised $84,012 for the Four Diamonds Fund, surpassing last year’s total of $67,000. Bethlehem Catholic senior and miniTHON chair, Sean Costello, says of this year’s event: “I just wanted to thank everyone who supported us throughout this long journey. It sure was a grind but it was very much worth it.
“We had the honor of hearing from some families affected by pediatric cancer and it really reminded all of us that they are the real reason we dance for 12 hours.
“We have all been affected by cancer in some way and I am just proud that our Bethlehem Catholic community was willing to take a stand against pediatric cancer. It was a true honor being chairperson for this year’s miniTHON and raising over $84,000 For The Kids.” If you are interested in donating to Bethlehem Catholic’s total for Four Diamonds, email stomaszewski@becahi.org for more information.
