LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A: I’m currently a senior at Salisbury High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is Advanced Placement Biology because it seems to be the one that comes up most in everyday life. I learn something in class then a situation will come up and I can use the knowledge I’ve gained.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I have received a scholarship totaling $80,000 ($20,000 for four years) from the university I plan to attend in the fall. Along with that, they have given me a few other grants and scholarships bringing my tuition from almost $50,000 a year to $15,000.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I am currently in No Place For Hate, the best buddies program, band and I am the president of the Key Club.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I plan to attend Marywood University in the fall. I hope to graduate in five years with a master’s degree in art therapy.

Q: What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A: My biggest challenge has been a struggle with finances. I work for all the money I spend and I cannot be more grateful for my scholarships.

Q: For what would you like to be remembered?

A: I would like to be remembered as the person you could go to when something was wrong or you were upset. I like helping others and I love making a difference.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: I have a sister, Brianna, a brother, Nate, my mother, Robin, and my father, John. My family has a puppy named Blu, five cats, an African Grey Parrot, two guinea pigs and a gerbil.

Q: Whom do you admire? Why?

A: I admire the head of the best buddies classroom, Mrs. Seng. She is a very kind, selfless woman and has always made me feel very welcome in her classroom. I was the first freshman to sign up and I was very scared in this new setting. She has always been super understanding and just an amazing person.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My biggest advice would be to the grades below me. I received my scholarship based on my academics. It will help me enormously in the future. If you keep your grades up you can receive more help. Show other people you want to do well and they will help you.
