STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is computer science because I love the problem-solving aspects and collaborating with my friends on our code.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I was a National Merit Semifinalist and a National AP Scholar.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A. I am the president of the Interact Club and I am part of the chamber orchestra, Science Olympiad and Science Bowl. I also played varsity tennis in the fall.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. I want to go to college for computer science, specifically computer graphics and simulation.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge was preparing for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association orchestra competitions because the music was very hard and different from anything I’ve played before, but the experience helped me grow as a violinist.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as someone who really loved what they did, especially computer science and music.
Q. Who is in your family?
A. My mom Sowmiya Ayyaswamy and my dad Sriram Tyagarajan.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire my parents the most because of all the work they put in to help me succeed and grow and because they are very passionate about their fields of work.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice is to work hard and play hard – put effort into your work and passions, but make sure you have time for your friends, family and relaxing activities.
