The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. March 7 to discuss “The Last Castle” by Denise Kiernan. The book for April 4 will be “Hillbilly Elegy” by J.D. Vance.

Carly’s Craft Corner will offer a re-purposed card and envelope craft activity 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 for ages 13 and older.

Seuss-tastic Saturday will be held 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 3. Library visitors will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with storytime and activity and game stations.

There will be an H&R Block Talk: “Tales & Truth About Tax Reform 2018” 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 6. Suzanne Rafferty from H&R Block will discuss how the tax reforms will affect you.

There will be a Buckets Full of Nature program for kindergarten through fifth grade students 4 to 5 p.m. March 7 where the Lehigh County Conservation District presentation “Going Green for Saint Patrick’s Day” will be featured.

There will be bingo for students in kindergarten through fifth grade 11 to 11:45 a.m. March 9. Teen volunteers will assist. If the East Penn School District is in session that day, the program will be canceled.

Game lovers are invited to “Get in the Game” 5 to 7 p.m. March 14 for an evening of board game fun including tabletop games, family games and mahjong.

The Teen Advisory Board for students in grades six through 12 meets 3:30 p.m. March 16.

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to explore “Wonderful Wind!” 6:30 p.m. March 19. There will be stories, experiments and crafts.

Autumn Shaner from the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles will present a program on the history of bicycles and how bicycles were pivotal in the women’s movement 6 p.m. March 22.

AARP Taxaide counselors offer free tax help for taxpayers with low to moderate income with special attention to those 60 years and older. Through April 12, counselors will be available noon to 5 p.m. each Thursday to provide assistance with taxes. Appointment slots fill quickly.

The next Friends of the Lower Macungie Library meeting is 10 a.m. March 17 in the library. New members are welcome.

Donations for the spring book sale are accepted through March 31. Donations should be placed in the window alcove to the right when entering the library. Visit the library for a list of items the library will not accept.

Friends members are welcome to help sort through each week’s donations 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings before the library opens.

The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, will hold its annual spring bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17. There will be crafts, white elephant, bake sale, basket auction and food, both eat-in and takeout.

Eyer Middle School will present “Getting to Know…Once Upon a Mattress” 7 p.m. March 8, 9 and 10 and 2 p.m. March 10.

Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” 7 p.m. March 15, 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. March 17.

The Emmaus High School Drama Department will present “West Side Story” 7 p.m. March 21, 22, 23 and 24 and 2 p.m. March 24 and 25. There will be a Gold Card preview performance 6 p.m. March 20. In Ancient Oak news, the next meeting will be held 7 p.m. March 7 at St. Paul’s UCC; the activity will be filling plastic eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt. Bring wrapped (no nut) candies for the eggs.

The Easter Egg Hunt will be held 2 p.m. March 24 at Church Lane Park with a rain date of 2 p.m. March 25.

The Ancient Oaks Garage Sale will be held 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28.

Lower Macungie offers garden plot rentals on Bogie Avenue and at Camp Olympic. Those who rented plots last year can renew their plot rental for 2018 through Feb. 28. Starting March 1, plots are available to rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact the community center for more information.

The Lower Macungie Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. March 14 at the community center for a presentation by Master Gardener Lori Metz titled, “Basic Shrub and Perennial Care.”

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon March 6 and 20 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.

The Emmaus Lions Club will hold a “Nite at the Races” and basket raffle starting 6:30 p.m. (doors open 5 p.m.) March 10 at the Alburtis Area Community Center. Family Open Gym time is 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays for ages infant through 10 years with a parent. Proof of residency is required.

Yard waste site winter hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center is closed on Tuesday and Thursday. Yard waste permits are required for dropoff. Be prepared to show photo I.D. as proof of residency.
