HORNET HAPPENINGS
The health and wellness/fitness club will host a dodgeball tournament 6 to 9 p.m. March 1 in the main and auxiliary gyms at the school. Come out and support your favorite team! There is a cost for spectators and tickets will be available at the door. Students who are playing in the tournament are asked to meet 5:30 p.m. for team check-in and rules.
The next Buzz magazine meeting will be held 2:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in the learning lab.
The Emmaus High School Hornet Ambassadors organization is now accepting applications. The Hornet Ambassadors play a large part in familiarizing the EHS community with our building, as well as helping new students adjust to life at EHS. The Hornet Ambassadors give tours to soon-to-be freshmen and new students, help direct parents on parent nights, guidance information nights and other functions where assistance is needed. If you like to help people and want to get involved in our school and community, involvement in the Hornet Ambassadors would be a great opportunity. If interested, pick up an application from Mrs. Molnar in the Learning Lab. Applications are currently being accepted for ninth and 10th graders. The application deadline is Feb 28.
The EHS Counseling Office is taking interested juniors on a field trip to both Pennsylvania College of Technology and Bloomsburg University on March 23. This visit is not restricted to students interested in these two schools, but open to anyone who would like to explore different college options.
The bus will leave EHS 7 a.m. and return to the school at approximately 5 p.m., therefore students will need alternate transportation home. Lunch will be provided by Bloomsburg University. Anyone interested in the trip will need to come to the counseling office for a permission slip. Permission slips are due March 7 as seating is limited. Visit the counseling office for more information.
Just a reminder: Clubs and organizations creating signs may not post them around the school without administrative permission. Additionally, students are not to remove any posted signs from bulletin boards or other locations without permission.
Tickets are now available for the EHS Drama department’s production of “West Side Story” on the EHS website. The show will be presented 7 p.m. March 21 through 24 and 2 p.m. March 24 and 25 in the EHS auditorium.
EHS Principal Dr. Kate Kieres will have open meetings with students after school on Thursdays to talk about gun violence topics in the wake of what had happened in Florida. Meetings are after school until 4 p.m. in the multi media room.
