Parkland Library enters Jan Brett competition

Parkland Community Library, South Whitehall Township, is currently No. 52 in a nationwide competition to have a free visit with classic children’s author and illustrator Jan Brett.

More than 23,000 entries have been received nationally for the competition.

“I think it’s a lifetime opportunity to meet such a famous author and illustrator,” said Carly Simon, marketing coordinator with the Parkland Community Library. “Entering this contest means a lot for our library to give this literacy experience to our community’s youngest readers.”

Over the last 20 years, Brett has been known for her wintry, intricate illustrations in books like “The Mitten” and “Gingerbread Baby.”

The school or library that has the most parents, teachers, friends, or supporters who enter the contest will win a free school or library visit from Brett in the 2018-19 school year. Contest ends April 2.

Second to 10th place winners will receive 10 Jan Brett books.

The 11th to 100th place winners will win a signed Jan Brett Poster.
