Busy months ahead

Preparation for showcases and performances to take place in the spring concert season have officially begun at the Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts. Students and faculty in each department work diligently toward all that is in store for the remainder of the school year.

The Charter Arts Parent Association will hold its seventh annual fashion show fundraiser March 4 at 2:30 p.m. The event takes place at the school, which is located at 321 East Third St. in Bethlehem. This year’s show is titled “Monarch” and celebrates the ‘beauty within.’ Designs by area retailers, boutiques and student designers are sure to impress guests. This year’s show will also feature some canine fashions. Tickets can be purchased online on the Charter Arts website.

The Music Department will host Jazz Cafe March 13 in the Charter Arts theater. The show begins at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online or upon arrival.

On March 17, the Figure Skating Department will be performing its spring ice show: Ballet sur Glace at the Steel Ice Center at 7 p.m. The performance will feature figure skaters of all grades and tickets can be purchased online or upon arrival.

On April 5, the Instrumental Music Department will hold An Evening With Guitar at 7 p.m. in the Charter Arts theater. This performance features selected guitar players from all grades. Tickets can be purchased online or upon arrival.

The First Friday Art Reception will be hosted in the Corpora Art Gallery April 6 from 6-9 p.m. This is a free event hosted by the Visual Art Department. The public is greatly welcome and may enter from Third Street. Also free to attend, a poetry reading will be taking place in the Commons Cafe from 7-9 p.m.

The highly anticipated spring musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone,” will take place from April 11 to 14 with shows at 7 p.m. each night. There will also be a matinee performance April 15 at 2 p.m. This show features selected students of all grades and majors who have been rehearsing constantly to deliver a fantastic annual spring musical. The show will take place in the Charter Arts theater and purchasing tickets online is highly recommended, for they may be sold out upon arrival.
