Feb. 21

The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will host Dr. Michael “Mykee” Fowlin 7 p.m. for a presentation, “You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me.” Fowlin’s one-man performance will deal with such issues as race, discrimination, violence prevention, suicide, gender equality, homophobia and strategies to address them. “Mykee” takes on the personas of several different characters, including a high school athlete dealing with his sexual identity, a young adult using a wheelchair and a student with behavior challenges, among others. The presentation is appropriate for adults and students in fifth grade and above, is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested by visiting swain.org/parenting.

Alburtis Area 55+ seniors meet noon at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis. Enjoy a potluck luncheon and bingo. Many bus trips are offered. For more information, call 610-966-4996.

Feb. 22

Emmaus Historical Society meeting 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The program will be, “Who’s Who in Emaus - 1909,” the year of the grandest celebration of all – the great Emaus Golden Jubilee of 1909. Focus will be on prominent residents at that time, including Dr. Wickert, Dr. Backenstoe, Chief Burgess Miller, Fire Chief H. Kratzer, Police Chief W. Kratzer, R.S. Stoneback, Will Jarrett, E.A. Stansfield, Rev. Able and others.

Upper Milford Historical Society meeting, 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township building, Old Zionsville. Bob Wood will present his talk titled “The Tragic Story of Bill Howe, a local Civil War deserter.” Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. For more information, call 610-966-4376.

Feb. 24

“Cherries, Chocolate and Jazz” 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for a delightful evening of food and jazz at the Lower Macungie Library. Appetizers, desserts and beverages are provided with music by “Austin Kruczek and The Modern Missive.” Each attendee will receive two tokens for complimentary wine. A Popcorn & Politics film at the LEPOCO Peace Center, 313 W. 4th St., (south) Bethlehem, 7 p.m. “Living Downstream” (2010) is based on the acclaimed book, with the same title, by ecologist and cancer survivor Sandra Steingraber, Ph.D. The film follows Steingraber as she travels across North America, working to break the silence about cancer and its environmental links. Attendees are encouraged to bring a snack or beverage to share.

March 3

The 10th annual Governor Wolf Historical Society Antiques Show at the 1785 Wolf Academy, 6600 Jacksonville Road, Bath. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 4. Event will include 50 quality antiques dealers, country folk art, original paintings and primitives, demonstrations and food tasting. There is a cost of admission.
