BRIEFLY

STATE POLICE

Donations of a few good horses, of quiet, sound dispositions and free of serious stable vices are requested by the Pennsylvania State Police to supplement the force’s 26-horse mounted patrol unit stabled at the academy in Hershey.

The equines will be used statewide for searches, crowd control, security and patrol operations of remote areas and participate in parades, demonstrations and other community events.

Horses must be geldings between the ages of 5 and 15 years and between 16 hands (5 foot 4 inches at the shoulder) and (less than) 18 hands tall. Drafts and draft-crosses are preferred.

Horses will be accepted on a 120-day trial basis to determine their suitability; a veterinary examination will be performed.

To arrange a donation, or for more information, contact Corporal Carrie Neidigh at 717-533-3463 or email cneidigh@pa.gov.
