S. Whitehall woman killed in crash

A 21-year-old South Whitehall Township woman was killed when her vehicle collided with another vehicle 9:57 a.m. Feb. 16 at 5341 Cetronia Road, Upper Macungie Township.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim, Emily Tomredle was pronounced dead at 11:54 a.m. the same day at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Grim said the cause of her death was attributed to multiple blunt force trauma. He ruled the manner of death an accident.

According to Upper Macungie Township police, Tomredle was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6 westbound on Cetronia Road, when she lost control of her car while attempting to navigate a left curve.

The car slid across the road and struck an oncoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz S550 driven by Kalpesh M. Patel, 38, of Allentown.

Police say the road was wet although it was no longer raining at the time of this crash.

Tomredle, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where she ultimately died. Patel, who was wearing his seat belt, sustained suspected minor injury, police say.

He was also transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for an evaluation of a complaint of back pain.

The Pontiac sustained severe disabling damage to its right side.

The Mercedes-Benz sustained severe disabling damage to its front bumper and hood area.

This crash remains under investigation.

According to an Upper Macungie police traffic advisory at 10:18 a.m. the same day, Cetronia Road between Krocks and Schantz roads was closed due to the accident. It was reopened to traffic at 2:26 p.m. the same day, police say.
