Lehigh Valley Music Teachers Association (LVMTA) will hold its 36th annual Hannah Young Play-A-Thon 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Feb. 24 and 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 25 at Lehigh Valley Mall, Whitehall. Lehigh Valley music students will perform at three locations within the mall.

Special guest will be Miss Pennsylvania 2018, Katie Schreckengast, a saxophonist and current member of Penn State’s Blue Band. She will be at the mall noon Sunday.

LVMTA, a nonprofit professional organization of music educators, sponsors the Play-A-Thon. LVMTA sponsors other music events as well, including the Achievement Awards Auditions at Moravian College, several annual recitals at various local venues, master classes and bus trips to performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. LVMTA also awards college scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue a music degree, as well as summer music camp scholarships to students of members.

The Play-A-Thon is a living memorial to Hannah Young, a musician fondly remembered by many of the original members of LVMTA.
