The Lower Macungie Library will celebrate Chinese New Year 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with one of its festive cultural programs for the whole community. Muhlenberg College, in partnership with the Higher Education Alliance, will host Conference on the United Nations and Women, a day-long series of presentations and discussion sessions led by directors and advisors from the United Nations Population Fund, the Development Operations Coordination Office and the High Commissioner for Refugees. The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will host Dr. Michael “Mykee” Fowlin 7 p.m. for a presentation, “You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me.” Fowlin’s one-man performance will deal with such issues as race, discrimination, violence prevention, suicide, gender equality, homophobia and strategies to address them. “Mykee” takes on the personas of several different characters, including a high school athlete dealing with his sexual identity, a young adult using a wheelchair and a student with behavior challenges, among others.
