Luther Crest will a hold a free Valentine’s Day luncheon, noon at the senior living community, 800 Hausman Road, Allentown. The event is held to introduce older adults to the Continuing Care Retirement Community environment, says Matt Petrauskas of the Luther Crest staff. The Lower Macungie Library will celebrate Chinese New Year 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with one of its festive cultural programs for the whole community. Join them for Chinese cultural shows, Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, red envelopes, raffle, displays and food. Register for special events including a Hulusi performance (Chinese musical instrument) 6 p.m. which will be followed 6:15 p.m. by a recitation of the Dizigui (Chinese classic book). Feb. 16

Muhlenberg College, in partnership with the Higher Education Alliance, will host Conference on the United Nations and Women, a day-long series of presentations and discussion sessions led by directors and advisors from the United Nations Population Fund, the Development Operations Coordination Office and the High Commissioner for Refugees. The program is free and open to the public; no registration is required. The event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will take place in the Seegers Union Event Space at Muhlenberg College. Introduction to snowshoeing with Wildlands Conservancy 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Louise More Park, Pavilion 2, 151 Country Club Road, Upper Nazareth Township. Discover animal tracks and winter wonders on the trails. Wear hiking books or insulated waterproof boots. Wildlands will provide snowshoes including kids’ sizes and post-walk hot cocoa. Feb. 21

The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will host Dr. Michael “Mykee” Fowlin 7 p.m. for a presentation, “You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me.” Fowlin’s one-man performance will deal with such issues as race, discrimination, violence prevention, suicide, gender equality, homophobia and strategies to address them. “Mykee” takes on the personas of several different characters, including a high school athlete dealing with his sexual identity, a young adult using a wheelchair and a student with behavior challenges, among others. The presentation is appropriate for adults and students in fifth grade and above, is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested by visiting swain.org/parenting.

Emmaus Historical Society meeting 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The program will be, “Who’s Who in Emaus - 1909,” the year of the grandest celebration of all – the great Emaus Golden Jubilee of 1909. Focus will be on prominent residents at that time, including Dr. Wickert, Dr. Backenstoe, Chief Burgess Miller, Fire Chief H. Kratzer, Police Chief W. Kratzer, R.S. Stoneback, Will Jarrett, E.A. Stansfield, Rev. Able and others.
