The Emmaus Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to partner with the Alburtis Police Department, the Macungie Police Department and the East Penn School District to reduce underage and dangerous drinking.

The “East Penn Alcohol Initiative” includes:

•An advertisement campaign using an advertisement created by Emmaus High School students.

•The monitoring of alcohol related establishments by the three participating police departments.

•The monitoring of Emmaus High School functions where alcohol use may be a problem.

•The purchase of portable breath testing equipment.

The goal of the “East Penn Alcohol Initiative” is to reduce or eliminate underage and dangerous drinking at or around Emmaus High School functions and in the East Penn communities as a whole.
