Something’s abuzz

The American Beekeeping Federation has announced Kayla Fusselman was selected as the 2018 American Honey Queen at the American Beekeeping Federation Conference and Tradeshow in Reno, Nev., on Jan. 13.

Fusselman is the 23-year-old daughter of Brian and Diane Fusselman of Kempton and the granddaughter of Margaret Weller of Fleetwood.

She is a 2017 graduate of Kutztown University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in art education.

Fusselman is an active alumna with the Kutztown High School FFA chapter and the Kutztown University Presidential Ambassadors.

Before being selected as the American Honey Queen, Fusselman served as the 2017 Pennsylvania Honey Queen.

In this role, she promoted the honey industry at fairs, festivals, and farmers’ markets, via media interviews, and in schools.

Fusselman will spend the next year promoting honey and the beekeeping industry throughout the United States in a wide variety of venues.
