The 12th annual SnowBlast Winter Festival 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Emmaus. This winter wonderland celebrating the arts is sponsored by the Emmaus Arts Commission. The schedule is packed with free, community-wide, art related events including artist demonstrations, music, SnowBlast art show and sale, outdoor and indoor community art projects, Triangle Park yarn bomb, SnowBlast Ice Princess, Michael Blaine, extreme chainsaw wood carver, Lund Forge & Iron Works, Lehigh Valley Martial Arts demonstration team, outdoor games, fire pits, fourth annual photo contest, SnowBlast Bar hosted by Emmaus Main Street Partners and Triple Sun Spirits and more. Venues include SnowBlast headquarters, stores and restaurants, Emmaus Public Library and Emmaus Triangle Park. State Rep. Justin Simmons, R-131st, will host special hours at his district office, 21 N. Main St., Unit 9, Coopersburg, for veterans and their families to receive assistance regarding programs and benefits. Simmons offers this free service the first Friday of each month. A veterans outreach specialist from the American Legion will be available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions about veteran benefits and to help file claims. Line Dance Social led by Peggy Sue 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown. This class is for those with some dance experience. The League of Women Voters of Lehigh County will present “Minority Inclusion” at the February Hot Topics Luncheon 11:30 a.m. at the Superior Restaurant, Emmaus. Milagros Canales, award-winning community liaison and advocacy worker, will share information about the needs of the minority community, how government, community and volunteers are helping and how our community organizations can be more inclusive. The Parkland Art League will meet 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St. (Route 100) Macungie. Robert Barber will demonstrate figure painting in oils. Barber is an avid plein air and studio painter and is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.

The Lower Macungie Library will celebrate Chinese New Year 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with one of its festive cultural programs for the whole community. Join them for Chinese cultural shows, Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, red envelopes, raffle, displays and food. Feb. 21

The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will host Dr. Michael “Mykee” Fowlin 7 p.m. for a presentation, “You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me.” Fowlin’s one-man performance will deal with such issues as race, discrimination, violence prevention, suicide, gender equality, homophobia and strategies to address them. “Mykee” takes on the personas of several different characters, including a high school athlete dealing with his sexual identity, a young adult using a wheelchair and a student with behavior challenges, among others. The presentation is appropriate for adults and students in fifth grade and above, is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested by visiting swain.org/parenting.

Emmaus Historical Society meeting 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The program will be, “Who’s Who in Emaus - 1909,” the year of the grandest celebration of all – the great Emaus Golden Jubilee of 1909. Focus will be on prominent residents at that time, including Dr. Wickert, Dr. Backenstoe, Chief Burgess Miller, Fire Chief H. Kratzer, Police Chief W. Kratzer, R.S. Stoneback, Will Jarrett, E.A. Stansfield, Rev. Able and others.

“Cherries, Chocolate and Jazz” 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for a delightful evening of food and jazz at the Lower Macungie Library. Appetizers, desserts and beverages are provided with music by “Austin Kruczek and The Modern Missive.” Each attendee will receive two tokens for complimentary wine. Sing, dance and bring your camera to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny.
