The 12th annual SnowBlast Winter Festival 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Emmaus. This winter wonderland celebrating the arts is sponsored by the Emmaus Arts Commission. The schedule is packed with free, community-wide, art related events including artist demonstrations, music, SnowBlast art show and sale, outdoor and indoor community art projects, Triangle Park yarn bomb, SnowBlast Ice Princess, Michael Blaine, extreme chainsaw wood carver, Lund Forge & Iron Works, Lehigh Valley Martial Arts demonstration team, outdoor games, fire pits, fourth annual photo contest, SnowBlast Bar hosted by Emmaus Main Street Partners and Triple Sun Spirits and more. State Rep. Justin Simmons, R-131st, will host special hours at his district office, 21 N. Main St., Unit 9, Coopersburg, for veterans and their families to receive assistance regarding programs and benefits. Simmons offers this free service the first Friday of each month. A veterans outreach specialist from the American Legion will be available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions about veteran benefits and to help file claims. The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will host Dr. Michael “Mykee” Fowlin 7 p.m. for a presentation, “You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me.” Fowlin’s one-man performance will deal with such issues as race, discrimination, violence prevention, suicide, gender equality, homophobia and strategies to address them. “Mykee” takes on the personas of several different characters, including a high school athlete dealing with his sexual identity, a young adult using a wheelchair and a student with behavior challenges, among others.
