‘District Insider’ airs Thursdays and Sunday

Watch the District Insider half hour television show on Thursdays and Sundays at 6 p.m. on RCN 4 and 1004; Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. on Service Electric 2 and 502; and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Service Electric 50 and 550.

Dance mini-thon Feb. 25

BASD will host a mini-thon Four Diamonds benefit Daddy-Daughter Dance from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Liberty HS, 1115 Linden St. For information, email WagnerKE@basdschools.org.

East Hills MS Backpack Pals and bingo Feb. 11

There will be bingo and Backpack Pals food collection at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at East Hills Middle School, 2005 Chester Road. TIckets available in advance or at the door. Must be 18 years old to play. No one under age 10 will be admitted; children age 10 and older must be accompanied by an adult. Special games will be available for purchase, cash door prizes, small raffles, concessions and vendors.

For each nonperishable food item donated to the BASD Backpack Pals program, the doner will receive an extra ticket to be entered for a chance to win a cash prize.

Future Chef’s Culinary competition announced

BASD and Sodexo are holding a culinary competition for students in grades one through five. The submitted Asian Fusion food recipes will be judged on health-conscious foods, simple, kid-friendly preparation, fun kid-foods, judge’s choice and best presentation.

The finalists will appear at the cook off at 4:15 p.m. March 22 at Northeast Middle School, 1170 Fernwood St.

The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts’ music department will host a Jazz Cafe at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Charter Arts Theatre, 321 E. Third St. Various jazz ensembles will perform a mix of jazz tunes. Tickets will be available at the door or by visiting www.CharterArts.org.
