Hornet wrestlers are headed to EPC tourney

Emmaus took fourth place at the Denver Duals last weekend at Cocalico High School.

The Hornets opened the tournament with a 55-21 win over Wyomissing. The Hornets fell to the hosts 41-35 in the second round. They beat Wilson 36-28 in the third round and fell to Garden Spot in the third place match, 40-24.

Emmaus dropped a dual meet to Northampton last Friday, 55-15.

Peyton Brown (106) and Kordell Waiters (113) both earned pins for Emmaus. Caden Wright (160) was the only other Hornet winner in the match with a 6-1 decision.

Heading into Wednesday’s final Eastern Pennsylvania Conference match against Whitehall (3-3), Emmaus (3-4) is in sixth place in Division B of the EPC. Saturday the conference holds it’s championship match and crossover matches at Easton Middle School. Bethlehem Catholic will take on Nazareth in the 7 p.m. finals, but the rest of the league will match up with a corresponding team in the other division. Heading into this week, Allen (2-5) was the seventh-place team in Division A and one of Emmaus’ likely opponents Saturday. Others could be fifth-place Freedom (3-3), sixth-place Pocono Mountain East (3-4) and eighth-place Dieruff (1-5).
