UPPER MILFORD TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS

After 37 years of service to Upper Milford Township, Daniel DeLong was honored by friends, relatives and government officials Jan. 18 during the regular supervisor’s meeting.

Township Supervisor Daniel Mohr was the first of the government officials to congratulate DeLong with a commendation commemorating his service. Mohr recounted some of the memorable shared escapades, like the time DeLong handed Mohr a metal tape then made contact with an “electric cow fence.”

Local Government Liaison Officer for State Sen. Patrick Browne, R-16th, Matthew Szuchyt presented a citation to DeLong in recognition of his service.

Dustan Raines, attending for State Rep. Justin Simmons, R-131st, also presented a citation in recognition of DeLong’s service.

The supervisors ordered a brief recess during which most of the attendees went to a reception for DeLong in the administrative building where guests and family gathered to visit with and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement.

In other business, Lisa Martin provided an Emmaus Public Library report. She said the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus will get a 2,700-square foot addition which will house a special children’s section. She said construction will start by the end of February with completion expected by the end of October.
