The Emmaus Arts Commission will host the 12th annual SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2 and noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 3. The festival schedule is packed with free, community-wide art-related events.

The event features children’s games, an outdoor community art project, fire pits, live music performances in various locations throughout the downtown and more.

Venues include the SnowBlast headquarters/Community Art Center, Liberty Worship Center (former Elephant’s Trunk), 348 Main St., with live music, artist demonstrations and an indoor origami community art project; Triangle Park; various shops and restaurants and the Emmaus Public Library. The SnowBlast art show and sale and the arts commission’s photo contest will be held at 412 Chestnut St. For photo contest rules and entry information, visit www.emmausarts.org.

The organizers are looking for volunteers to participate in a “Yarn Bomb,” a public art installation. No sewing is required and all the material is donated. If you are interested in participating, visit emmausarts.org.

Featured at various times at Triangle Park will be the SnowBlast Ice Princess and demonstrations by a chainsaw wood carving champion, a blacksmith artist and Lehigh Valley Martial Arts students.

Emmaus Main Street Partners will host the SnowBlast Bar on the Triangle featuring Triple Sun Spirits.

The SnowBlast after party will be held 4 p.m. Feb. 3 at the House & Barn, 1449 Chestnut St., featuring food and drink specials.

The Emmaus Public Library staff invites you to join them for events all day Feb. 3, 11. E. Main St. Winter crafts for children and families will be held 10:30 a.m., story time with the Ice Princess 1 p.m. and a screening of “Happy Feet” (2006) PG 2 p.m.

The Emmaus Historical Society will host a wine and cheese open house, 218 Main St., 5 to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 2 during Emmaus’ SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival. Emmaus artist Bob Boehmer will be painting during the open house. From noon to 5 p.m. on Feb. 3 refreshments will be served while visitors enjoy the society’s winter putz and snow tree displayed with winter gear worn in the past and photos of some of Emmaus’ most memorable snow events. At 1 p.m. Ellen Wilson will demonstrate fabric painting. Winter displays will remain through February, as well as the vintage toy display.

Also on display in the museum during February is the nostalgic Valentine collection. It’s sure to warm your heart.

The society will hold its monthly meeting, 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets. The program will be “Who’s Who in Emaus-1909,” the year of the Emaus Golden Jubilee. Focus of the presentation will be on prominent residents at that time.

The society is taking orders for apple dumplings, shoo-fly pie and funny cake. Orders may be placed at monthly meetings, Saturdays at the museum or by leaving a message at 610-966-6591. The deadline to order is April 6 and items should be picked up at the museum noon to 4 p.m. April 14.

The Emmaus Senior Citizen’s Group meets 1 p.m. every Friday at St. Matthew’s E.C. Church, Fifth and Ridge streets. All area senior citizens are invited to attend.
